Curriculum

  • At Success Academy, our math curriculum, EnVision Math by Savvas, lays a robust foundation for our K-8 students, seamlessly integrating with our comprehensive STEM education approach. enVision Math is renowned for its rigorous, standards-aligned content that emphasizes problem-solving, conceptual understanding, and procedural fluency. By engaging students with interactive and visual learning strategies, this curriculum cultivates critical thinking and analytical skills essential for STEM success. Our students not only master mathematical concepts but also learn to apply them in real-world scenarios, preparing them for advanced studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through this cohesive educational framework, we inspire young minds to explore, innovate, and excel in the dynamic fields of STEM.

  • At Success Academy, our literacy curriculum is designed to foster a love for reading and writing while building essential skills for academic success. For grades K-5, we use the HMH Into Reading curriculum, which provides a rich and diverse array of texts that engage young learners and develop their comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. In grades 6-8, students advance to the HMH Into Literature curriculum, which challenges them with complex texts and encourages critical thinking and analysis. A key component of our literacy program across all grades is the Writer's Workshop, where students practice writing in various genres, receive individualized feedback, and learn to express their ideas clearly and creatively. Through this comprehensive approach, we ensure that every student becomes a confident and proficient reader and writer.

  • Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Success Academy will implement the CAREIALL literacy curriculum, developed by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI), to strengthen foundational reading skills across elementary grades. For grades K–2, the CAREIALL Foundational Phonics program emphasizes explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency, aligning with the science of reading. In grades 3–5, the CAREIALL Morphology curriculum builds upon this foundation by focusing on the structure and meaning of words, enhancing vocabulary and reading comprehension.

  • Success Academy delivers high-quality science instruction grounded in Minnesota state standards, ensuring students receive a rigorous and comprehensive education in scientific principles. Our educators design engaging lessons that build deep understanding across core scientific domains while encouraging curiosity about the natural world. To strengthen connections to broader STEM learning, we enhance our curriculum with hands-on experiments, guest speakers, and partnerships with local science centers. In grades 6–8, students will use the Savvas Elevate Science curriculum, a next-generation program that integrates inquiry-based learning with real-world applications. This dynamic approach fosters inquisitive thinking and equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for future success in STEM fields.

  • Success Academy’s social studies instruction in grades K–8 will be guided by Minnesota state standards and a commitment to developing informed, engaged citizens. Our curriculum emphasizes history, geography, civics, and economics, brought to life through lessons that promote critical thinking, cultural awareness, and real-world application. In middle school, 6th grade students will explore Minnesota history using the Northern Lights curriculum from the Minnesota Historical Society, while 7th and 8th graders will engage with the HMH Social Studies curriculum to deepen their understanding of U.S. and world history. This comprehensive approach ensures students build a strong foundation in social studies while developing the skills necessary to participate thoughtfully in civic life.

  • Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Success Academy will implement the Wayfinder social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum for students in grades K–8. Wayfinder is a program recognized for its evidence-based approach to enhancing student outcomes such as school climate, connectedness, and social behaviors. The curriculum is structured around six core skills: self-awareness, adaptability, empathy, collaboration, agency, and purpose, which are developed through developmentally appropriate lessons and activities. This curriculum aims to foster a supportive and inclusive school environment, promoting students' social and emotional growth alongside academic achievement.
